Phonic based "learning-to-read in English" materials
For Schools, who are looking for a method to teach their students reading in English, I created Follow The Sounds.
The student books can be freely downloaded as pdf-files. But, in order to bring out the best results, watch the online training videos and learn the phonic sounds, before you start implementing the materials. Train your teachers to teach the SOUNDS of the letters in combination with the letter NAMES.
There are 5 levels of student books that can be freely downloaded. You are responsible for printing hard copies in your local situation.
Level 1: Learn the sounds — Learning individual letter sounds and characters. Focus is on VISUAL recognition. (Students aged 3-4)
Level 2: Follow the sounds — Practicing visual ánd sound recognition and blending sounds together. (Students aged 5)
Level 3: Follow the words — Blending sounds into words more quickly, recognizing high-frequency words, and reading first short sentences. (Students aged 6)
Level 4: Follow the stories — Applying reading skills to read complete, connected stories. (Students aged 7)
Level COMPREHENSION — Follow the meaning — A fast-paced workbook for learning sounds and words, centered on reading comprehension. Designed for students who learn quickly and need a more challenging approach.
The ages mentioned are only an indication. If children do not have any prior letter and sound knowledge yet, start with Level 1. They will likely be able to move through the materials quickly. You can assess for yourself which materials are most suitable for your students, and you can always adjust up or down whenever needed.
